Marvel Infinite Series Wave 2 Thor

The Marvel Infinite Series Wave 2 Thor is basically a re-release with a new head sculpt, though I love it.

The head sculpt here is new, a mask and beard have both been added.

Thor Series Frost Giant

This figure isn't technically Thor.  At one point, Thor needed assistance and Eric Masterson proved worthy of wielding Mjolnir, resulting in this version of Thor.  Eric Masterson later went on the become Thunderstrike.

How Much of Marvel's Cinematic Universe Phase 2 Success is from Avengers?

I've read the phrase "Avengers bump" quite a few times since Iron Man 3 came out.  This is pretty much just the idea that Iron Man 3, Thor: The Dark World, and Captain America: The Winter Soldier all did better at the box office because of the success of Avengers.  It's very possible these films would have done the same without Avengers, but unlikely.  Are other comic book movies getting "bumps" from Avengers without even being involved?

First of all, let's take a look at the Iron Man series.  Iron Man is definitely Marvel Cinematic Universe's most popular and successful character.

Iron Man (2008)

  • Total Domestic Gross: $318 million
  • Opening Week: $123 million
    • 38.68% of total gross

Iron Man 2 (2010)

Iron Man 3 (2013)
  • Total Domestic Gross: $409 million
  • Opening Week: $212 million
    • 51.83% of total gross
  • Second Week: $89 million
    • -57.9%
Totals and Averages

Star Wars Black Series Wave 1 Episode II Padme Amidala

I bought these figures when the Black Series first started and neglected opening them.

I have a tendency to want to buy Star Wars figures and never open them, or use them.

Padme Amidala is a pretty decent figure.  I have very few female Star Wars figures, so I'm not 100% sure how she compares, but she seems good.

She includes a blaster rifle and pistol.  The pistol fits in a holster on her belt.

Thor Series Heimdall

After years of thinking it would never happen, I finally got my hands on Heimdall.  I'm a litter underwhelmed.

He's a pretty okay figure.  Heimdall's sculpt is great, but that's about it.

Thor Series Frost Giant

Articulation is pretty standard for this line.  I would have loved some wrist movement, but I can dream.

Heimdall comes with his sword, which appears to be a unique item.

Thor Series King Laufey Figure

It's King Laufey!

There really isn't much to say about this figure, it's really the same as the Thor Series Frost Giants, just slightly different.

Laufey comes with an ice helmet and ice mace.

Thor: The Dark World Series Kurse Figure

I can't decide of Kurse should count as an army builder or not.

In Thor: The Dark World, the Dark Elves are transformed into creatures just like this.  This specific guy is a major character, but in the beginning of the film, there are multiple similar creatures.

Thor: The Dark World Series Dark Elf Figure

I'm probably just going to keep it at one.  Three elves plus Kurse makes a pretty decent team.

Kurse is about the same height as Thor, which makes sense. He's articulate, but not as articulate as this Marvel Universe Thor or as articulate as the Dark Elves.

The paint is very dark, and I honestly think it looks great.  The sculpt is fantastic as well.  Definitely just like Kurse in the film.

Thor: The Dark World Series Dark Elves

As someone who must have every army builder I can get my hands on, I was very excited for these Dark Elves from Thor 2.

I must confess, I was so excited for these I couldn't wait for them to drop in price.  None of my stores nearby carry them, so I got a lot of three of them on eBay for next to nothing.  Unfortunately they don't have weapons.

While they aren't accurate, I'm okay with using Star Wars weapons with them.  It works for me.

Avengers Series Skrull Soldier

A year and a half after the release of the film, my local Wal-Mart still doesn't have their Avengers movie toys on clearance. No joke, they still have a Thor figure from that movie mixed in with them too.

Regardless of their price, I got two.  I'll go back for the others when they drop in price.

It's a pretty decent figure for this movie line.  I made the mistake of buying quite a few Chitauri that have about the same articulation as Power of the Force 2 figures.  I'm happy to say the Skrull Soldiers are far superior.

Marvel Universe Skrull Soldier

Unfortunately their weapons aren't the best.  The good news is that I have plenty of Star Wars weapons that will do just fine.  I'm not picky.

Thor Movie Series Fandral

In honor of Thor opening last weekend, I finally opened up Fandral the Dashing.

He is not the best figure, but he is pretty good for a movie line.
